Wangjing Hospital of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

Wangjing Hospital of China Academy of TCM, consist of the Affiliated Hospital of Beijing College of Acupuncture and Orthopedics, the Orthopedic Department of Beijing College of Acupuncture and Orthopedics and the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology of China Academy of TCM, was established in January 1997 under the leadership of the State Administration Bureau of TCM and was appraised as the third-grade TCM hospital in December 1998. It is a TCM comprehensive hospital featuring orthopedics and meanwhile developing other medical cares. It is a part of " WHO Traditional Medicine Cooperation Center", " the National TCM Orthopedic Treatment Center", " Beijing Branch of the National Acupuncture Treatment Center", the advanced orthopedic unit of the State Administration Bureau of TCM, the exchange center of TCM orthopedics post-doctors, the TCM clinical education base and TCM further-training base recognized by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration Bureau of TCM, and one of the 47 third-grade hospitals in Beijing.

Wangjing Hospital of China Academy of TCM is located in the biggest residential area in Asia, covering 60 hectares and enjoying convenient traffic and good medical conditions. The hospital proper covers 37441.33 sq. meters and a new outpatient building will be built. It includes 550 beds, 31 clinical departments, 14 research departments and 14 educational research departments. It has 529 staff members, including 440 medical staffs consisting of 106 professors, 152 middle-level and 182 primary-level technicians, 9 tutors of doctors and 17 tutors of masters .

The hospital had undertook 41 science-research subjects on the ministerial level before 2001. It has won 63 prizes on science-research achievements. It has published the state-level academic magazine.

　Foreign Education and Exchange in Wangjing Hospital of China Academy of TCM

Since 1997, Wangjing Hospital of China Academy of TCM has sent 53 experts to U.S.A., Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Iraq, Hongkong and Taiwan for medical care and academic exchange . In 2000, the “ International Orthopedic Congress on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine” was held successfully in Beijing. Four terms of “ TCM Orthopedic Training for American Delegation”, three terms of “ Tuina-therapy Training for Japanese Delegation”, “ Acupuncture Training for Japanese Acupuncture University” and “ TCM Orthopedic Training for Singapore Delegation” have been organized. The hospital has received 143 foreign students from U.S.A., England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, Belgium, Philippine, Israel, Qatar, Norway，Japan, Singapore, Thailand Malaysia，and Hong kong and Taiwan areas. It also received 780 foreign visitors with the interest in TCM and arranged 9055 academic hours of clinical practice for the foreign students of Beijing College of Acupuncture and orthopedics. It has arranged 460 foreign students from the Beijing University of TCM for the short-term clinical practice and 150 foreign graduates from this university for the long-term clinical practice.
Our hospital has signed the Letter of Cooperation Intent with Hong FUNG YING SEEN kOON, Singapore ECM HOLDINGS PTE LTD, Italy Azienda Ospedaliera “ Eugenio Morelli ” di Sondalo and Malaysia Chung Hua Institute of Chinese Medicine. In 2000, the hospital established the ECM Chinese Medical Center Pte Ltd in Singapore. Our hospital has provided many times of medical care for leaders of foreign countries such as the first lady of Cote d’lvdire between April 24,2002 and April 29, 2002 and the director of World Bank Mr. James d.Wolfensen between May 27,2002 and May 29,2002.
